IICRC Certification and Training

IICRC certified. Trained technicians. Serving Jackson since 2010.

Jump to a section

HydroClean is IICRC certified, and our team has extensive knowledge and training for every service we offer. David Laton has about 16 years of experience. In your home, training means we identify the floor or fabric first, pick the cleaner and method that fit it, and tell you what we expect before we start.

Carpet, upholstery, tile, hardwood and luxury vinyl each react differently to heat, water and cleaning products. Training is how we know which is which before we start.

HydroClean is IICRC certified and fully insured. A business that needs a certificate of insurance can ask for one. We have been a locally owned and operated family business in Jackson since 2010.

What IICRC Certification Means

The IICRC is the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification. It writes and maintains the technical standards for cleaning and restoration work. It also certifies technicians and firms against those standards. Certification comes from training and passing its tests.

Those standards set out what correct work looks like for carpet, upholstery and hard surfaces. When a carpet maker calls for hot water extraction to keep a warranty in force, that call rests on the same body of standards.

Much of what the training teaches happens before any cleaning starts. On upholstery, for example, we identify the fiber first and then choose the cleaner. You may never notice that step.

What Certification Covers

  • Fiber and Surface Identification

Different carpet and upholstery fibers react differently to heat, agitation and cleaners. So do tile, finished hardwood, luxury vinyl and VCT. We identify the material first, because every later choice depends on it.

  • Soil and Cleaning Chemistry

Which cleaner goes with which soil, and what a surface can safely take. On carpet, a traffic-lane cleaner breaks the bond between the soil and the fiber before we extract.

  • Method and Equipment

Carpet is extracted at 300 to 500 PSI. Tile and grout are rinsed at about 1,000 to 1,200 PSI. Both use water heated to 200 to 240°F. Knowing which pressure goes with which floor is part of the training.

  • Moisture and Drying

How much water a floor can take and how to get it back out. Hardwood is cleaned with a small extractor. Carpet needs about half a day to dry, sometimes up to 24 hours, and air movers speed it up.

  • Spot Treatment

After extraction we treat the spots that remain and rinse again. Training helps us pick the treatment. It does not tell us ahead of time what will come out.

What It Means for Your Floors

Here is what the training changes on the floors in your home.

  • Your carpet is cleaned by hot water extraction, the method most carpet makers name for warranty care.
  • Upholstery fiber is identified first, and the rinse leaves the fabric neutral to slightly acidic.
  • Hardwood gets a deep cleaner or a stripping agent, depending on what is on the floor, and then a neutralizing rinse.
  • Pet urine is inspected with a UV light and a moisture meter before we recommend anything.
  • If you have severe allergies or sensitivities, we have a hypoallergenic cleaner with no odor or perfume.

Trained Technicians

Our technicians are trained for every service we offer.

We work in lived-in homes, around furniture, walls and doorways. We take the time to make sure your property is protected during the cleaning, to help prevent accidental damage.

Want to check any of this before you schedule? Call and ask. David answers the phone himself.

What Certification Does Not Mean

We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.

  • Certification does not undo bleach spots or old dye loss. That color has left the fiber.
  • Certification does not erase years of traffic wear. A worn traffic lane usually improves a great deal, and it may still look a little darker than the carpet beside it.
  • Certification does not mean we know what will come out. We do not always know, and we do not promise complete stain or odor removal.
  • Certification does not set a price. David prices each job individually after we collect the details.

Questions About Certification

What does IICRC certified mean?

The IICRC is the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, the standards body for the cleaning and restoration trade. Being certified means training and testing against its standards. In a Jackson home, it shows up as us identifying the floor or fabric before any cleaning starts.

Does certification protect my carpet warranty?

It helps. Most carpet makers call for professional hot water extraction to keep a warranty in force, and that is the method we use. Check your own warranty papers, since some list extra steps. Tell us about them when you call.

Are HydroClean technicians trained?

Yes. Our technicians are trained for every service we offer, and HydroClean is IICRC certified. If you have a question about the training, call and ask before you schedule.

Why does training matter for hardwood and luxury vinyl?

Because the wrong product can do lasting harm. If a hardwood floor has store-bought polish on it, we use a stripping agent, not the deep cleaner. Luxury vinyl plank is cleaned almost the same way, often with gentler cleaners.

Is HydroClean insured?

Yes. HydroClean is fully insured. If your business needs a certificate of insurance before we start, ask and we will provide one.

Can I see proof of certification?

Yes. Call (731) 437-0006 before you schedule and we will confirm it. You can also ask David about the training while he is on the job. He is glad to explain what he checks on your floors and why.
