Realistic Results, Honestly
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- A coating is not refinishing. A floor that needs sanding will still need sanding.
- It will not fill or hide scratches, gouges or pet claw marks.
- It wears, and that is what it is there for. The busiest areas go first.
- It does not suit every floor. Waxed floors and floors with worn-through spots are poor candidates. We would turn the job down before we coat a floor that will not hold it.
Safe for Your Family and Pets
Stay off the floor until we tell you it is dry, and keep pets off a little longer, because claws can mark a coating that has not cured. Rugs go back after it has fully cured. If someone in the house is sensitive to odors, tell us before the job.

Hardwood Floor Protection Questions
Is this the same as refinishing my floor?
No. Refinishing sands the old finish off and builds a new one. This is a sealer or coating applied over a clean floor with a sound finish. It is also different from a screen and recoat, which abrades the old finish first.
Will it hide my scratches?
No. It coats the surface. It does not fill it. Deeper scratches and claw marks will still show.
Can a coating change how my floor looks?
Some can. We have access to specialty sealers and coatings that change the look and feel of a floor while protecting it. Tell us what you have in mind and we will tell you what is possible on your floor.
How long does it last?
It depends on traffic. Entry halls, kitchens and hallways wear first. Ask us about your floor when we look at it.
