These carpet guides answer what homeowners ask us before they book. They cover how often carpet needs professional cleaning, how long it takes to dry, what happens during a visit and how hot water extraction works. They also cover what a rental machine can and cannot do, and how to keep carpet clean between visits.

Carpet is the floor people ask us about most, and it is where bad advice does the most harm. Store spot removers can leave residue that pulls soil back in. Rental and home machines often put down more water than they pull back out. Waiting years between cleanings lets grit wear the fiber in ways cleaning cannot undo.

The guides below explain what is going on in the fiber, so what you do between our visits helps the carpet. Each one gives the short answer first.

What method does HydroClean use on carpet?

We clean carpet with hot water extraction from a truck mounted machine. We start with a walkthrough and vacuum every area. We move furniture where needed, clean underneath it, then set it back on blocks. A traffic-lane cleaner goes down next to break the bond between the soil and the fiber. Then we extract at 300 to 500 PSI with water heated to 200 to 240°F.

Spots that are still there get treated and rinsed again. If the carpet needs it, we neutralize it so nothing sticky stays in the fiber. That matters, because residue pulls soil back in and the carpet can look dirty again within weeks. If you bought protector, it goes on last.

What can carpet cleaning not fix?

Most soil comes out, and many stains improve. Fresh spills usually respond well. Old stains and stains that were treated with store products often lighten but do not go away. Bleach spots, dye loss and sun fading are color changes in the fiber, and cleaning does not reverse them.

Traffic lane wear is the other one. Once grit has worn the fiber, the lane can look duller than the carpet beside it even after a thorough cleaning. We look for this on the walkthrough and tell you what we expect. We do not always know what will come out until we clean it.

Our guide to how long carpets take to dry covers what happens after we leave. Questions about your floors? Call or text (731) 437-0006.

Common Questions

Can you remove every stain from carpet?

No. Fresh spills usually respond well. Old stains and stains treated with store products often lighten without going away. Bleach spots and dye loss cannot be reversed by cleaning. We tell you what we expect before we start, but we do not always know what will come out until we work on it.

Will my carpet feel sticky afterward?

It should not. Sticky carpet comes from cleaning solution left in the fiber. We rinse during extraction and neutralize the carpet when it needs it. If a room does not feel right once it dries, call us. David will come back, look at it and re-clean if needed.

Do you move furniture?

Yes, where needed. We move it, clean underneath, then put it back with blocks under the legs so it does not sit on damp carpet. A day or two before the appointment we send a checklist asking you to pick up toys and clothes and have the rooms open. Large, heavy pieces such as beds, sectionals, china cabinets and pianos stay in place, so have those moved beforehand if you want the carpet under them cleaned.
