VCT is vinyl composition tile. It is the floor in a lot of West Tennessee churches, schools, medical offices and office buildings. The tile itself is dull. What makes a VCT floor shine is the floor finish on top of it, which most people call wax.
That finish wears. Traffic scuffs it, soil gets ground into it, and over the years it yellows. When it gets to that point, we strip the old finish off and apply new finish. That is a strip and wax.
A full strip is a big job, and a floor should not need one constantly. We can help you reduce the need for constant stripping and waxing. Scrubbing the floor and buffing the finish between strips keeps the finish working longer.
Luxury vinyl plank and tile are a different floor and are not stripped or waxed. They have their own service. The technician confirms what your floor is before we give you an estimate.

VCT Strip & Wax
We strip the old, yellowed finish off a VCT floor and apply new finish. For churches, schools, medical offices and office buildings.
VCT Floor Cleaning
A scrub that takes the soil off the finish and leaves the finish in place. For VCT that is dirty but does not need a full strip.
Floor Buffing
Buffing brings the shine back on finish that is still on the floor. Nothing gets stripped and there is no new finish to wait on.
Hard Surface Cleaning
Cleaning for sheet vinyl, laminate and sealed concrete. We figure out what each floor is before we decide how to clean it.

Our Process
Identify the Floor
The technician confirms the floor is VCT. Luxury vinyl can look similar and is not stripped or waxed.
Look at the Finish
We check how worn or yellowed the existing finish is. That tells us whether the floor needs a full strip and wax, or whether a scrub or a buff will do.
Work Out the Details
For a business, we settle timing, keys and alarm codes with you before the day of the job.
Strip, Scrub or Buff
On a strip and wax, the old finish is stripped off down to the tile. On a maintenance visit, the floor is scrubbed or buffed and the finish stays in place.
Apply New Finish
After stripping, new finish goes down and is left to dry before anyone walks on it.
You Look at the Floor
You or your contact get a chance to look at the work before we leave.

Realistic Results, Honestly
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- Floor finish is clear. It shows the tile under it. Tile that is worn, gouged or stained will still look that way under new finish.
- New finish needs time to dry before it takes traffic. Walking on it early leaves marks. We tell you when the floor can be used again.
- If your floor turns out to be luxury vinyl, we will not strip and wax it. That floor is cleaned a different way.
- Cracked, loose or missing tiles need to be replaced. We do not replace tile.
- Some stains are in the tile itself and stay after stripping. We do not always know what will come out until the old finish is off.
Safe for Your Family and Pets
Our products are tested and safe for occupied buildings. A wet floor and a freshly finished floor are both slippery, so the area stays closed until it is dry. If anyone in the building has severe allergies or sensitivities, tell us before the job.

What is VCT?
VCT stands for vinyl composition tile. It is the hard tile floor in many schools, churches, medical offices and office buildings. The tile itself is dull, so its shine comes from floor finish applied on top.
What is a strip and wax?
We strip away the old, yellowed finish and apply new finish. It is like getting a new floor in your building without replacing the floor.
Can we avoid stripping the floor so often?
Usually, yes. We can help you reduce the need for constant stripping and waxing. Scrubbing the floor and buffing the finish on a regular basis keeps the finish in use longer.
How is VCT different from LVT?
VCT depends on floor finish that we apply, so it gets stripped and refinished. LVT has a wear layer from the factory and is cleaned. We do not strip or wax luxury vinyl.
Do you offer sealers or protective coatings for VCT?
On VCT the protective coating is the floor finish, which most people call wax. It goes on after the old finish is stripped off. Buffing between strip and wax jobs keeps that finish working longer.
How long is the floor out of service?
It depends on the job. A scrub or a buff puts the floor back in use quickly. A full strip and wax takes longer, because the new finish has to dry. We tell you the timing when we prepare the estimate.
How do you schedule work in a business?
We work it out with you. Commercial jobs follow the same process as our home jobs, plus the details like timing, keys and alarm codes. Our regular hours are Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, and evening and weekend work is available on request. Tell us your hours when you call.
Why does my floor still look worn after new wax?
Because finish is clear. If the tile under it is worn, scratched or stained, new finish gives you a shiny worn floor. It protects the tile. It does not resurface it.
