A HydroClean job at a Jackson home starts with your call or estimate request. We collect the details, prepare the estimate and schedule once you approve it. A checklist arrives 24 to 48 hours before the appointment. On the day we greet you, do a walkthrough and clean. You look at the work before we leave.
This page goes through a HydroClean job at a home in Jackson or the West Tennessee towns around it, from your side of the door. Most families have a floor cleaner in once every year or two, so it is fair to wonder about the noise, the mess, the pets, and whether you are supposed to stay and watch.
The short version is that two parts of the day need you. At the start there is a walkthrough, where you show us what bothers you about the floor. At the end you look at the work, and David asks if you have any questions or concerns. The part in between is our job.
The visit is less disruptive than most people expect, though a little louder. The machine stays on the truck and the hoses come inside. You can work in another room, take a call at the kitchen table, or run errands.
Commercial jobs follow the same order as homes. They add logistics such as timing, keys and alarm codes, and we sort those out with you before the day.
The Checklist, the Truck and the Welcome
A checklist goes to every customer 24 to 48 hours before the appointment. It is short. Pick up toys and clothes off the floors we are cleaning, and have the rooms open and available. That is most of what we need from you.
The truck carries the cleaning machine, so it parks as close to your door as it can. The hoses run from the truck to the room we are working in. The engine runs for the whole job, because it powers the heat and the vacuum. If your driveway is short or parking is shared, tell us when we schedule.
David Laton started HydroClean in 2010 and still works the jobs. The visit starts with a warm welcome and a handshake. Then we do the walkthrough, and that is the time to ask whatever you want to ask.
The Hoses, the Open Door and the Noise
The machine stays on the truck. The hoses come inside, and one door stays open until we finish.
A vacuum hose and a solution line run from the truck to the room we are cleaning, so an outside door stays open until we finish. In July that lets warm air in, and in January it lets cold air in. Your thermostat will work a little harder for the length of the job.
An open door is also an exit for any pet that likes the outdoors. Put pets in a closed room, a crate or the yard before we arrive, not while the hoses are going in. The same thought applies to a toddler who has just learned how door handles work.
The engine and the vacuum stay outside, but the sound carries. Indoors you hear the wand in the room we are working and a steady drone through the open door. A conversation in the next room is easy. A video call in the room being cleaned is not. If someone is napping, tell us and we can start at the far end of the house.
Your Visit, in the Order It Happens
You Call or Send an Estimate Request
It starts with a phone call or the estimate request form. David still answers the phone himself.
We Collect the Details
We ask what needs cleaning, which rooms, and roughly how big they are. Most carpet cleaning can be estimated over the phone. A home over 4,000 square feet, or a job with smoke odor or a lot of pet stains and odor, normally needs an on-site visit before a final number.
We Prepare the Estimate
David prices each job individually. Travel is built into the overall price, so you will not see a separate line for it.
You Approve It and We Set a Time
Nothing is scheduled until you approve the estimate. Once you do, we agree on a day and a time.
The Checklist Arrives
We send a checklist 24 to 48 hours before the appointment. It asks you to pick up toys and clothes and to have the rooms open and available.
Welcome, Handshake and Walkthrough
The visit starts with a warm welcome and a handshake. Then we go through the areas with you. Point at every spot that bothers you, including the ones you have decided are permanent.
The Cleaning
On carpet we pre-vacuum, move furniture where needed, apply a traffic-lane cleaner, and extract with hot water from the truck. Spots still showing are treated and rinsed again. Furniture goes back on blocks. Protector, if you purchased it, goes on last.
You Look at the Work Before We Leave
Before we load up, you get a chance to look at the work, and David asks if you have any questions or concerns. If something is not right and it is within our ability, we make it right before we leave.
After the Job
The invoice follows the job. With it, we let you know where you can leave a review if you would like to. That is up to you. Later on we mail reminder cards, and you book again when you are ready.
What You Get on Every Visit
- An estimate you approve before anything is scheduled
- A checklist sent 24 to 48 hours before the appointment
- A warm welcome and a handshake at the door
- A walkthrough where you point out what matters to you
- Pre-vacuuming of every carpeted area we clean
- Lighter furniture moved where needed, cleaned under, put back and blocked
- Spot treatment and a second rinse on anything still showing
- A chance to look at the work and ask questions before we leave
- A return visit from David to look, and re-clean if needed, if you call later
How the Carpet Looks and Feels When We Finish
Right after extraction the carpet is damp, not soaked. Color often looks a little deeper while it is damp and settles back as it dries, so the best time to judge the result is once the carpet is dry.
Furniture we moved is back in place and sitting on blocks. Leave the blocks where they are until the carpet under them is dry.
That evening, keep shoes off the carpet and cross it in clean socks if you need to. Keep pets off the damp areas, and wait to put rugs back down. Allow about half a day for carpet to dry, sometimes up to 24 hours. Air movers and your own fans speed it up. Tile, stone and hardwood are usually ready within 1 to 2 hours.
What to Expect for Your Visit
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- We do not move large, heavy furniture or anything that would have to be taken apart: beds, large sectionals, china cabinets, pianos, aquariums, gun safes, TVs and entertainment centers. If you want the floor under those cleaned, have them moved before the appointment.
- Nobody has to stay for the whole job. It helps to have someone home for the walkthrough at the start and for the look at the end.
- We do not always know what will come out. Some spots are stains and some are damage to the fiber, and we often cannot tell which until we have worked on them.
- The house runs a few degrees off normal while an outside door is open. An extra layer in winter works better than fighting the thermostat.
- Carpet is not off limits all day. Careful walking in clean socks is fine well before it is fully dry.
- If you want to add a service while we are there, we do it if time allows. If it does not, we quote it and schedule another date.
- Carpet can look different once it is dry. If something shows up the next day, call. David comes back, looks at it, and re-cleans if needed.
Questions About the Visit
How do I get an estimate?
Call or send an estimate request. Tell us what needs cleaning, which rooms and roughly how big they are. Most carpet cleaning can be estimated over the phone. A home over 4,000 square feet, or a job with smoke odor or a lot of pet stains and odor, normally needs an on-site visit before a final number. We do not post prices, because each job is priced individually.
What is on the checklist you send?
Not much. It goes out 24 to 48 hours before the appointment and asks you to pick up toys and clothes from the floors we are cleaning and to have the rooms open and available. The how to prepare page has a few more suggestions if you want them.
Can I go out while you work?
Yes. It helps to be home for the walkthrough at the start and back at the end, so you can look at the work before we leave. In between, plenty of families run errands or go to work. Keep your phone nearby in case we have a question about a spot.
Where should the pets be during the visit?
Behind a closed door, in a crate, or with a neighbor for a couple of hours. Our products are tested and safe for homes, so the concern is the open outside door and the hoses running through it. A nervous dog and an open front door do not mix.
How loud is it, and can I work from home that day?
The engine and vacuum run outside on the truck, so indoors you hear a steady drone plus the wand in the room we are working. Working from home in another part of the house is easy. Tell us about a call at a fixed time and we can work around that room.
Will you ask me for a review?
No. With the invoice, we let you know where you can leave a review if you would like to. It is a suggestion, never a requirement.
What if I notice something after you have driven away?
Call us. Carpet can look different once it is fully dry. David comes back, looks at it, and re-cleans if needed. We would sooner take another look than have you live with something that bothers you.
