Porcelain tile cleaning in Jackson deals with the mop film and grout soil that dull a dense, low-absorption tile. Porcelain is fired hotter than ceramic, so it is harder and rarely stains. When a porcelain floor looks dirty, we check three things: mop residue, soil held in a textured surface, and the grout.

Porcelain is the tougher of the two common tiles. It is fired at a higher heat, which makes a dense body that absorbs almost nothing. Its surface is much harder to scratch or stain than a standard ceramic glaze.

So when a porcelain floor stops looking good, the tile is rarely the cause. It is usually a film of detergent and hard water minerals from mopping, soil sitting in the texture of a matte or slip-resistant tile, or grout that has darkened.

Textured porcelain is worth a mention. The texture that keeps a floor from being slick also gives soil a place to sit, and a mop slides right over it. More mopping does not help those floors. Cleaner with time to work, followed by hot water at 1,000 to 1,200 PSI, is what gets into the texture. Call (731) 437-0006 or request an estimate.

Benefits of Porcelain Tile Cleaning

  • Works on the detergent and hard water film that mopping leaves
  • High-pressure rinse reaches soil sitting in matte and textured porcelain
  • Grout lines rinsed out and vacuumed to the truck
  • Porcelain handles hot water and pressure well
  • Usually ready for use in 1 to 2 hours

Who This Is For

  • Jackson homes with porcelain plank or large-format tile
  • Textured or matte slip-resistant porcelain floors
  • Polished porcelain that has gone dull or streaky
  • Offices, shops and churches with porcelain in entries and halls

Our Process

  1. Confirm the Tile and Finish

Polished, matte and textured porcelain each behave differently. We identify yours and check the grout for cracks, failing spots and old repairs.

  2. Clear the Floor

Mats and light furniture come off the tile.

  3. Apply the Cleaner

Cleaner goes on with a pump sprayer and gets time to break down detergent film, grease and grout soil.

  4. High-Pressure Rinse and Vacuum

We rinse at about 1,000 to 1,200 PSI with 200 to 240°F water, and the tool vacuums it out to the truck at the same time. Porcelain handles this well.

  5. Look It Over Together

You look at the floor with us before we leave.

What's Included

  • Finish identification: polished, matte or textured porcelain
  • Grout condition check
  • Floor cleared
  • Cleaner applied with a pump sprayer
  • High-pressure hot water rinse, vacuumed out to the truck
  • Hand tools at edges and corners
  • A look at the finished floor with you

Realistic Results, Honestly

We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.

  • Porcelain almost never stains. If the floor still looks dull after cleaning, you are seeing grout color or surface texture. That tells us whether sealing, color sealing or nothing at all is the next step.
  • Textured and matte porcelain holds soil in its surface by design. It will never wipe as clean as smooth polished tile. That is the trade for a floor that is safer when wet.
  • Polished porcelain shows everything. Cleaning takes off the film that dulls it. It does not stop footprints, water spots and streaks from showing again the first time someone crosses it in wet shoes.
  • Scratches in porcelain are physical damage. Once the dull film is gone, fine scratches can show more than before.

Safe for Your Family and Pets

We use family safe, pet safe products, and the rinse takes them off so no slick residue is left on a hard floor. Porcelain is very slick while damp, so keep everyone off it until it dries.

Porcelain Tile Cleaning Questions

Does porcelain need sealing?

The tile does not. Porcelain is dense enough that it absorbs almost nothing. The grout between the tiles is a different material, and it does benefit from sealing.

Why does my porcelain floor look streaky?

Almost always mop residue. Detergent and hard water minerals dry in thin layers on the surface, which looks like streaks or haze. A hot rinse takes that film off instead of adding another layer.

Can textured porcelain get clean?

Yes. A mop glides over the texture and leaves soil in it, which is why those floors look gray. Cleaner and a high-pressure rinse get into it. It still will not look like polished tile, because it is not.

Is porcelain harder to clean than ceramic?

In most ways it is easier. It is denser and less absorbent, so the tile itself rarely gives trouble. The extra work on porcelain is usually in the texture or the grout.
