Floor buffing in Jackson brings the shine back to the finish that is already on a VCT floor. HydroClean runs a floor machine with a pad over the finish to smooth out scuffs and fine scratches. Burnishing is the same idea at a higher speed. Nothing is stripped. It only works where there is still finish on the floor.

A VCT floor loses its shine because traffic scuffs and scratches the top of the finish. The finish is usually still there. It is just not smooth anymore.

Buffing smooths it back out. We run a floor machine with a pad over the finish, which takes out scuffs and fine scratches so the floor reflects light again. Burnishing does the same thing at a higher speed and gives a glossier look.

Nothing is stripped and no new finish goes down, so there is nothing to wait on afterward. That makes it a good fit before an event or an inspection, and a good thing to do on a regular basis. It is one of the ways we help customers put off the next strip and wax.

It needs finish to work on. Where traffic has worn through to the tile, buffing will not do anything. The technician checks that first. Call (731) 437-0006 or send an estimate request.

Benefits of Floor Buffing

  • Brings back shine without stripping
  • Takes out scuffs and heel marks in the finish
  • No new finish to dry
  • Helps put off the next strip and wax

Who This Is For

  • Jackson schools and churches
  • Medical and professional offices
  • Buildings getting ready for an inspection or an event
  • Any VCT floor that has gone dull but still has finish on it

Our Process

  1. Check That There Is Finish

Buffing works on finish. Where the floor is worn to bare tile there is nothing to buff, and the technician tells you that before we start.

  2. Get the Grit Off

Loose soil and grit come off the floor first. Grit under a buffing pad scratches the finish.

  3. Buff or Burnish

A floor machine and pad go over the finish. We buff for scuffs and general shine, and burnish where a higher gloss is wanted.

  4. You Look at the Floor

You or your contact look at the work before we leave.

What's Included

  • A check that there is finish to work on
  • Removal of loose soil and grit
  • Buffing or burnishing
  • Our read on how much life the finish has left
  • A chance to look at the work before we leave

Realistic Results, Honestly

We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.

  • Buffing works on finish, and only where there is finish. A doorway worn down to bare tile will not shine no matter how many passes it gets.
  • Deep gouges and chips that go into the tile stay.
  • Yellowed finish will be shiny and still yellow. It takes a strip to remove the color.

Safe for Your Family and Pets

No stripper is used on this service, and the floor can be walked on as soon as we finish. Our products are tested and safe for occupied buildings.

Floor Buffing Questions

What does buffing a floor do?

It smooths the top of the floor finish. Traffic leaves scuffs and fine scratches that make a floor look dull. A buffing pad levels them out so the floor shines again. It does not add finish.

What is the difference between buffing and burnishing?

Mostly speed. Burnishing runs the pad much faster, and that gives a glossier look. Both work on finish that is already on the floor.

Will buffing fix my worn traffic lanes?

Only if there is still finish in them. If traffic has worn through to the tile, the floor needs new finish, which means a strip and wax.

Can you buff instead of stripping?

Often, yes. If the finish is intact and the floor is just dull and scuffed, buffing is the right job. If the finish is yellowed or worn through, it needs to be stripped.

Is polishing the same as buffing?

They overlap. Buffing and burnishing are what the machine does. When a customer asks us to polish a VCT floor, we scrub it first, check that the finish is even, then burnish it. Polishing changes how the floor looks. It does not add protection.

How soon can we walk on it?

Right away. There is no new finish to dry.

Wondering about cost? We do not post prices, but you can see what affects the price of VCT strip and wax.
