HydroClean cleans and seals any natural stone floor in Jackson and West Tennessee, including marble, granite, travertine and slate. Stone needs delicate cleaning, so the technician identifies it first and uses pH-neutral products that are safe for it. Dull spots caused by acidic cleaners are etching. That is damage to the stone, and cleaning does not remove it.
If you have a natural stone floor, we can safely clean and seal it. That covers marble, granite, travertine, slate, sandstone, flagstone and any other natural stone. Natural stone needs delicate cleaning and protection to keep it looking good for years.
The reason is what stone is made of. Marble and travertine are calcium based, and acid eats into them. Vinegar, lemon juice, most bathroom cleaners and a lot of all-purpose sprays are acidic enough to leave a dull mark. That mark is called etching. It is a spot where the surface of the stone has been eaten away, so no cleaner takes it off.
So the first thing the technician does is identify the stone. Then we clear the floor, apply a cleaner that is safe for that stone, rinse it and extract the soil. Spots that are still there get treated and rinsed again. If you want the stone sealed, the sealer goes on last, after the floor is clean.
Before we start, we show you which marks we think are soil and which are etching or wear. We do not always know what will come out, and we would like you to know that going in.
David Laton started HydroClean in 2010 and has about 16 years in this work. We are IICRC certified and family-owned.
To get an estimate, call (731) 437-0006 or send a request. Stone usually has to be seen, so most of the time we set up an in-home estimate. We prepare the estimate, you approve it and we schedule a time. When the job is done you get a chance to look at the work before we leave.

All Natural Stone Cleaning Services
Each service below has its own page. It explains how we do the work, what to expect and what may remain.
Marble Cleaning
Marble cleaned with pH-neutral products and sealed if you want it. We show you which dull spots are soil and which are etching.
Granite Cleaning
Cleaning for granite floors that have gone dull under a film of oil and soap residue, with sealing afterward if the stone needs it.
Travertine Cleaning
Travertine is full of natural holes and reacts to acid. We check the fill, clean it with pH-neutral products and seal it if you want.
Slate Cleaning
Slate has a rough, layered surface that holds soil in every ridge. We clean it, extract the soil and seal it if you want.
Natural Stone Sealing
Sealer goes on clean stone and slows down how fast a spill soaks in. It protects the floor. It does not make it stainproof.
Stone Restoration
Stone is polished as part of our cleaning, which brings back shine. Etching and deep scratches need a full restoration, which we refer to a contractor who specializes in it.
Benefits
- Stone identified before any product is chosen
- pH-neutral products that are safe for the stone
- Soil rinsed and extracted off the floor
- Sealing available to protect the stone after cleaning
- Floors usually ready for use within 1 to 2 hours
Our Process
Identify the Stone
Marble, travertine, slate, sandstone and flagstone do not all react the same way. The technician confirms what you have and tests a spot before choosing a cleaner.
Show You What We See
Before we start, we point out which marks look like soil and which look like etching or wear. Etching and wear do not clean off.
Clear the Floor
Light furniture is moved so we can get to the floor. Large, heavy pieces need to be moved before we arrive if you want the stone under them cleaned.
Apply the Cleaner
A pH-neutral cleaner that is safe for your stone goes down and is given time to loosen the soil.
Rinse and Extract
The floor is rinsed and the soil is extracted off it. A mop only moves dirty water around.
Treat What Is Left
Spots that are still showing are treated and rinsed again.
Seal If You Want It
If you asked for sealing, the sealer goes on the clean stone.
You Look at the Floor
You get a chance to look at the work before we leave. If something is not right and it is within our ability, we make it right before we go.
What's Included
- Identification of the stone
- A test spot
- A look at soil, etching and wear with you before we start
- A pH-neutral cleaner that is safe for the stone
- Rinse and extraction
- Spot treatment where it is needed
- Sealer, if you asked for it
- A chance to look at the work before we leave
Realistic Results, Honestly
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- Etching does not clean off. Where vinegar, wine, citrus or a bathroom cleaner has touched marble or travertine, the surface of the stone has been dissolved. That dull patch will still be dull when the floor is clean.
- Old stains may lighten and still be there. Oil, rust and dye that soaked in years ago are inside the stone. We do not always know what will come out.
- Scratches, chips and worn traffic paths are damage. Cleaning does not repair them.
- On travertine, the fill in the natural holes can come loose with age. If a fill is already loose, cleaning may release it. We check for that first.
- Sealer is protection. It slows down how fast the stone absorbs a spill. It does not make stone stainproof, and it does not stop etching.
Safe for Your Family and Pets
The products we use are tested and safe for homes with children and pets, and they are safe for the stone. Nothing acidic goes on marble or travertine. If anyone in the house has severe allergies or sensitivities, tell us before the job. Stone floors are usually ready for use within 1 to 2 hours.

Natural Stone Cleaning Questions
Why does my marble look dull in spots even though it is clean?
Those are most likely etch marks. Something acidic dissolved a thin layer of the surface there. It is damage to the stone, and cleaning does not remove it. The technician will show you which spots are etched.
What stone do you clean?
Any natural stone floor. That includes marble, granite, travertine, slate, sandstone and flagstone. We clean them and we can seal them.
What household cleaners are safe on natural stone?
Not many. Anything acidic etches marble and travertine. That includes vinegar, lemon, most bathroom and tub cleaners and a lot of all-purpose sprays. Use a pH-neutral cleaner labeled for natural stone.
How long before I can walk on the floor?
Stone floors are usually ready for use within 1 to 2 hours. If we apply sealer, we will tell you how long to give it.
Does sealing make stone stainproof?
No. Sealer slows down how fast liquid soaks in, which gives you time to wipe up a spill. It does not make the stone stainproof, and it does not prevent etching.
What if something is not right after the job?
You look at the work before we leave. If something is not right and it is within our ability, we make it right before we go. If you notice something later, call us. David will come back and look at it, and re-clean it if it needs it.
How do I get an estimate for stone?
Call (731) 437-0006 or send an estimate request. We do not post prices, because each job is priced on its own. Stone usually needs to be seen, so we set up a time to come look at it and prepare your estimate from there.
Wondering about cost? We do not post prices, but you can see what affects the price of stone and area rug cleaning.
