Couch and Upholstery Odor Removal in Jackson, TN
4.9 (278 reviews)2 min read
Couch odor removal in Jackson goes after the residue that makes the smell instead of covering it. Odor usually sits in the cushion foam and fabric backing, so treatment has to reach that far. A recent accident gives us the best chance. Years of contamination in foam may only improve, and complete odor removal cannot be promised.
If furniture smells, there is organic residue still in it, and the smell keeps coming back until that residue is dealt with. Fragrance sprays last a couple of days because they change what you smell and leave the source where it is.
On a couch, the residue usually sits deeper than people expect. A pet accident or a spilled glass of milk passes through the fabric in seconds and soaks into the cushion foam, which works like a sponge. What you see on the surface is a small part of what went in. That is why the smell gets worse in a humid West Tennessee summer.
Treating it means getting product to where the residue is, giving it time and then getting it back out. How bad it is matters. One recent accident on a cushion is a very different job from a cushion a pet has used again and again for two years. That one may be soaked all the way through, and the better advice may be a new foam insert. We will tell you which we think you have. Call (731) 437-0006 or request an estimate.

Our Process
Find the Source
We inspect the piece to find the affected areas. They are often larger than the visible mark and are frequently on the underside or in the foam.
Identify the Fiber
Odor treatment needs enough product to reach the source, so the fabric has to be able to take it. On S and X coded fabrics the options are limited, and we say so.
Tell You What We Think
We tell you whether it looks light, moderate or severe and what that likely means, before you approve the estimate.
Treat the Source and Let It Dwell
Treatment goes into the backing and the foam where the residue is, and it gets time to work.
Extract and Clean the Whole Piece
We extract the treatment and the contamination, then clean the rest of the piece so the treated area does not stand out. The rinse leaves the fabric neutral to slightly acidic.
Air-Dry
The piece air-dries. Foam takes longer than fabric, so we tell you what to expect over the next few days.

Realistic Results, Honestly
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- Complete odor removal cannot be promised every time. Odor is usually removed or greatly reduced, and a recent accident treated soon gives the best chance.
- Severe contamination is different. Where a pet has used the same cushion again and again over a long time, urine soaks the foam all the way through. Treatment reduces that odor and often does not remove it, because much of the source is inside a sponge we cannot fully flush.
- When foam is saturated, a new cushion insert is usually the better advice. That is an upholstery repair. We will tell you so instead of charging for a treatment we do not expect to hold.
- Smoke odor lives in everything porous, including the frame, the padding and the fabric. Treatment reduces it. In a house where someone smoked indoors for years, the furniture is one source among many. For smoke odor through a room or a house, we also have a chlorine dioxide treatment, covered on our odor removal page.
- We do not use heavy fragrance to cover a smell. If odor remains after treatment, we will tell you why.
Safe for Your Family and Pets
Our products are tested and safe for homes, pets and children, which matters when we are treating a cushion somebody will sit on tomorrow. We do not rely on masking fragrance. For severe allergies or sensitivities, ask about our hypoallergenic cleaner with no odor or perfume.

Upholstery Odor Removal Questions
Can you get dog or cat urine smell out of a couch?
Often it is removed or greatly reduced, mostly when the problem is light to moderate and you call fairly soon. Where a pet has used the same cushion for years, the foam is saturated, and treatment reduces the odor without fully removing it.
Why does the smell come back in humid weather?
Organic residue is still in the foam or the fabric backing, and humid weather brings the smell back out. If the odor returns with the weather, some of the source is still there.
Is a deodorizer or spray enough?
No. Sprays change what you smell without changing what is there, so the source keeps producing odor. On their own they last a couple of days.
Can you get smoke smell out of furniture?
We can reduce it. Smoke residue settles into fabric, padding and the frame itself, and in a home where someone smoked indoors for years the furniture is only part of the problem. We also offer a chlorine dioxide treatment that helps reduce smoke, mildew and mold odors in a room. Ask about it when you call.
What if the foam is saturated?
Then cleaning will not fully solve it, and we will say so. The better fix is a new cushion insert, which is an upholstery repair.
