Recliner Cleaning in Jackson, TN
4.9 (278 reviews)2 min read
Recliner cleaning in Jackson works on the headrest, where body oil builds up, and the footrest, where shoe soil collects. We open the chair to reach the hidden panels and keep the moisture down, so none reaches the reclining mechanism or the metal frame. Drying generally takes 2 to 6 hours.
A recliner is somebody's chair. One person sits in it most nights, in the same position, with their head against the same spot and their feet on the same footrest. That puts two kinds of soil at the two ends of one piece: body oil at the top, shoe and sock soil at the bottom.
It is also a chair with a machine inside it. Under the fabric there is a metal linkage, springs and, on power models, a motor and wiring. Water that runs down into any of that can cause rust marks that bleed through the fabric later, or hurt the motor. So we clean recliners with less moisture than a sofa.
The other issue is reach. A good part of a recliner is hidden when the chair is closed. The back of the footrest, the inner panels beside the seat and the area behind the headrest only show when it is open. We clean the chair in both positions. We do some leather cleaning on request, so tell us if the recliner is leather when you call. Call (731) 437-0006 or request an estimate.

Benefits of Recliner Cleaning
- Cleaned open and closed, so the hidden panels get done
- Headrest oil and footrest shoe soil both pre-sprayed
- Moisture kept away from the mechanism and frame
- Manual, power and lift recliners
- Usually back in use the same day
Who This Is For
- Households with a daily-use recliner
- Owners of power or lift recliners
- Anyone whose recliner headrest has gone dark and shiny
- Homes with recliner ends on a sectional
- Older adults using a lift chair every day
Our Process
Identify the Fiber
We read the cleaning code, check the fabric, and note whether the chair is manual, power or a lift model. Power chairs get unplugged.
Open the Chair and Test
We recline it fully and test a hidden area, often the underside of the footrest.
Pre-Spray and Dwell
Pre-spray goes on and sits 5 to 10 minutes. The headrest and armrests get it for body oil, the footrest for shoe and sock soil.
Hand-Shampoo or Hot-Water Extraction
We use a small hand tool or shampoo by hand, with the moisture kept low so nothing runs down into the linkage, motor or wiring.
Spot Treatment and Rinse
Remaining spots get treated, and the fabric is rinsed to neutral or slightly acidic.
Close, Check and Air-Dry
We close the chair, finish the outer panels and make sure it opens and closes normally. You look it over before we leave.
What's Included
- Fiber and cleaning code identification
- Cleaning in both the open and closed positions
- Pre-spray with 5 to 10 minutes of dwell on headrest, arms and footrest
- Hand-shampoo or low-moisture extraction
- Spot treatment and a rinse to neutral or slightly acidic
- A check that the chair still works normally
- A look at the finished chair with you
Realistic Results, Honestly
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- The headrest is the hardest part of a recliner. Years of hair and skin oil in one small area often change the fabric color there for good. It may still look darker than the rest of the chair.
- Some areas cannot be reached. On most designs, the fabric that wraps the inside of the mechanism and the deck right under the seat are out of reach without taking the chair apart, and we do not take chairs apart.
- We use less moisture on a recliner on purpose. It protects the metal frame and the motor, and it means heavy soil may take a second pass instead of one heavy one.
- If the chair already has rust marks bleeding through from the frame, cleaning will not remove them. That is corrosion coming from the inside, and it keeps coming back.
Safe for Your Family and Pets
We use family safe, pet safe products and keep the moisture low to protect the reclining mechanism, the motor and the metal frame. On power recliners, we unplug the chair before we start. We check that it opens and closes normally before we leave. It should be dry in 2 to 6 hours.

Recliner Cleaning Questions
Can you clean a power recliner safely?
Yes. We unplug it first, keep moisture away from the motor and wiring, and check that the chair works normally before we leave.
Why is my recliner headrest so much darker?
Body oil. One person's head rests on the same few inches of fabric every night, and hair product and skin oil soak in, oxidize and hold dust.
Do you clean the footrest underneath?
Yes. We open the chair fully to reach the back of the footrest and the inner panels. Those areas are hidden when the recliner is closed, and they are usually the dirtiest part of it.
Will cleaning affect the reclining mechanism?
We keep the moisture low so nothing runs down into the linkage, and we run the chair open and closed before we call the job finished.
How long until I can use the chair?
Generally 2 to 6 hours. Recliners often dry toward the faster end, because we use less moisture on them.
