When the last trade packs up, there is a fine white film on everything, including the new floor. Drywall dust is very fine and it travels. It shows up in rooms nobody worked in.
The problem is what happens when that dust gets wet. It turns to paste. If you mop a dusty new floor, you push that paste into every grout line and bit of texture, and it dries hard there.
So the dust comes off dry, before anything wet touches the floor. Once it is gone we clean each surface the way we normally would. Carpet gets hot water extraction. Tile, stone and wood each get their own process. New grout and stone can be sealed while the room is clean and empty.

Realistic Results, Honestly
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- This is floor cleaning only, and we take these jobs in certain cases. We do not clean walls or do other post-construction cleaning.
- Construction damage is not a cleaning problem. Scratches from dragged materials, chipped tile and dented wood will still be there.
- Dust keeps settling for a while after the work stops. Wait until the trades are done for good.
- Grout haze is a different problem from dust, and heavy haze may not clear completely. Tell us if the floor was just tiled.
- Paint and adhesive do not always come off. If getting it off would risk the floor, we stop and talk to you first.

No. We clean the floors only, and we take post-construction jobs in certain cases. We do not clean walls or do other post-construction cleaning. Call and tell us about the job, and we will tell you whether it is one we take.
How do you clean drywall dust off floors?
Dry, before anything else. Water turns drywall dust into paste, and mopping pushes that paste into grout lines and texture where it hardens. Once the dust is off, we clean each floor the normal way.
When should post-construction cleaning be scheduled?
After every trade is finished. If painters or installers come back, dust lands on floors you already had cleaned.
Can you get paint off my new floor?
Often, but it depends on the surface and how long the paint has been there. We do not always know what will come out. If we think removing it could damage the floor, we will tell you before we try.
Should I seal new grout and stone now?
It is a good time for it. The floor is new, clean and empty. Sealer slows down staining. It does not make anything stainproof.
