This library collects the questions we get on the phone at HydroClean. We wrote guides on carpet cleaning, pet stains and odor, tile and grout, hardwood and general floor care. There is also a glossary, a set of FAQs, method comparisons and statistics, all written for homes in Jackson and West Tennessee.

We have cleaned floors in Jackson and across West Tennessee since 2010, and the same questions come up on almost every call. How often does carpet need cleaning? How long will it stay damp? Why does that spot keep coming back? Can the pet odor be fixed? What is the difference between cleaning grout and sealing it?

These guides answer those questions the way we would on the phone. Each one gives the short answer first and then the reasoning. Where cleaning will not fix a problem, the guide says so. We do not always know what will come out of a floor until we work on it, and we would rather tell you that up front.

HydroClean is family-owned and locally owned and operated. David Laton started the company in 2010, is IICRC certified, and still answers the phone and works the jobs. Read what helps, and call if you want us to take a look.

Five Floor Care Topics

Our Jackson team wrote these 23 guides for West Tennessee homes. We grouped them by the problem you want to solve.

Cost Guides

We do not post prices, because David prices each job individually. These guides explain what affects a price and how to get an estimate.

Company figures you can check, industry guidance labeled as guidance, and the numbers we choose not to publish.

How should you use this resource library?

Start with the topic that matches your problem. The carpet guides cover how often to clean, drying time, our method and how to get ready. The pet guides cover urine damage, UV light inspection and what results to expect. Tile and grout covers dark grout, cleaning and sealing. Hardwood covers cleaning the finish safely and protecting it. Floor care education covers indoor air, allergens and picking a method.

If you are weighing two options, the comparisons page sets them side by side. If you are getting ready for a visit, the carpet guides cover what to do before we arrive. If a word on your estimate is new to you, look it up in the glossary.

Why are there no prices in these guides?

We do not post prices. David prices each job individually, because the size of the area, how soiled it is, the kind of surface, any stain or odor treatment and how easy it is to get to all change the work. For some services we can give you an estimate over the phone and set the final price when we see the floor. For others we come out and look first. Use Request an Estimate or call, and we will get you a number.

The guides come from work we do in Jackson and West Tennessee homes. Where a result depends on your floor, the guide says so. The photos in our results gallery are from our own jobs.

Why is this written for West Tennessee specifically?

The weather here changes floor care advice more than most people expect. Humid summers slow drying and feed mildew in showers and damp basements. Carpet dries faster in winter. Winter heat also swings indoor humidity and moves hardwood. Gravel drives, field dust and muddy seasons load entry areas with grit that a vacuum cannot fully remove.

Most of our work is in Jackson, Lexington, Brownsville, Milan, Medina, Humboldt and Henderson. We will travel elsewhere in West Tennessee when the job is worth the time and the drive. The advice here comes from the homes we work in.

Not sure where to start? The Carpet Cleaning Guides topic opens with how often to clean carpet. Questions about your floors? Call or text (731) 437-0006.

Common Questions

How often should carpets and floors be professionally cleaned?

Most homes should have carpet cleaned every 12 to 18 months. Homes with children and pets usually need it more often. For a busy home we may recommend a spring and a fall cleaning. We send a reminder card, and you book when you are ready.

How long does it take for carpets and floors to dry after cleaning?

Carpet dries in about half a day, sometimes up to 24 hours. Air movers speed it up, and so does running your fans or air conditioning. Carpet dries faster in winter than in a humid summer. Tile, stone and hardwood are usually ready to use within 1 to 2 hours.

Where can I find prices for this work?

We do not post prices. Each job is priced individually, based on what needs cleaning, the size, the soil and any stain or odor treatment. Call us or send an estimate request with the rooms and rough sizes. Some services we can estimate by phone, with the final price set when we inspect. For others we book an in-home estimate.

Have a Question the Guides Did Not Answer?

Call our Jackson team and ask, or send an estimate request. We collect the details, prepare your estimate, and schedule the work once you approve it. You get a chance to look at the work before we leave.
