Stair carpet cleaning in Jackson is hand work. Stairs carry more foot traffic per square foot than any other carpet in a home, and a floor wand cannot run across them. We clean each tread, riser and nose edge with a hand tool, using the same hot water extraction as the rest of the house. Worn edges still show wear.

Stairs take more wear per square foot than anything else in the house. Every trip up or down puts full body weight on a narrow strip at the front edge of each tread, thousands of times a year. That leading edge shows wear first, and it is also the hardest part to clean, because it curves.

A floor wand cannot simply run across a stair. Each tread, each riser and each edge gets cleaned with a hand tool. That is slower work than a room.

It also shows. A clean flight of stairs changes how the whole entry of a home looks. To get a price, call or send an estimate request and tell us how many flights you have. We have a service minimum, so stairs on their own may be charged at a flat minimum rate. Most people add them to the rest of the house.

Benefits of Stair Carpet Cleaning

  • Close attention to the busiest carpet in the home
  • Treads, risers and nose edges each cleaned by hand
  • A big visual change in entry and hallway areas
  • Removes grit from where wear happens fastest

Who This Is For

  • Any Jackson home with carpeted stairs
  • Homes with pets that run the stairs all day
  • Two-story rentals at turnover
  • Anyone whose stairs look worse than the rooms they connect

Our Process

  1. Look at Each Flight

We look at every tread and note the leading edges, which are always the most worn.

  2. Pre-Vacuum

Into the corners and along the edges, where soil collects.

  3. Traffic-Lane Cleaner

Applied across the treads, risers and nose edges, with time to break the bond between the soil and the fiber.

  4. Hand Tool Extraction

We extract each tread and riser with a hand tool and hot water at 200 to 240°F. It reaches what a floor wand cannot.

  5. Edges and Corners

Where the carpet meets the wall and the stringer, done by hand.

  6. Spots and Drying

Remaining spots are treated and rinsed again. We put air movers on the stairs so they dry sooner.

What's Included

  • A look at every tread
  • Pre-vacuuming, including edges and corners
  • Traffic-lane cleaner on treads, risers and nose edges
  • Hand tool extraction of every tread and riser
  • Edge and corner detail work
  • Spot treatment and a second rinse
  • Air movers on the stairs

Realistic Results, Honestly

We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.

  • Stair nose edges show the most wear of any carpet in the house. They will improve a great deal, and the wear pattern will still show, because the fiber there has been worn down.
  • Stairs take longer per square foot than any other area, because it is hand work.
  • Use the stairs carefully while they are damp, and hold the rail. Damp carpet on a stair tread is more slippery than dry carpet.
  • Where carpet has pulled away from a tread or the nose is worn through, that is a repair, and cleaning will not fix it. We will point it out.

Safe for Your Family and Pets

Take extra care on stairs while they dry, and use the handrail. We put air movers on the stairs, because a wet stair is the one drying concern worth taking seriously. Our products are family safe and pet safe.

Stair Carpet Cleaning Questions

How much does it cost to clean carpet on stairs?

We price each job individually and do not post prices. Tell us how many flights you have when you call or send an estimate request. There is a service minimum, so a single flight on its own may be charged at a flat minimum rate.

Why do stairs take longer than a room?

Because they are hand work. A floor wand cannot run across a stair, so we clean each tread, riser and nose edge with a hand tool. A flight of stairs takes much longer than a room of the same square footage.

How long do stairs take to dry?

About the same as other carpet: about half a day, sometimes up to 24 hours. Air movers speed it up. Use the handrail and take care while they are damp.

Can you clean the edges properly?

Yes. That is what the hand tools are for. The edges and corners where the carpet meets the wall and the stringer collect the most soil, and we do them by hand.

My stair edges look worn. Will cleaning fix that?

No. Worn nose edges are fiber worn down by thousands of steps landing on the same narrow strip. Cleaning removes the soil and makes the edges look much better. It cannot restore fiber that has worn away.

Wondering about cost? We do not post prices, but you can see what affects the price of carpet cleaning.
