Backsplash Cleaning in Jackson, TN
4.9 (278 reviews)2 min read
Backsplash cleaning in Jackson kitchens works on cooking grease and splatter on the tile behind a range or sink. Heat bakes grease onto the tile and into the grout. A mosaic backsplash has far more grout for its size than a floor, so most of the job is cleaner, time and patient work with hand tools.
A backsplash is there to take the splatter, and it does. Oil, sauce and steam come off the range and land on the tile inches away. The heat from the next meal bakes them on. Over a few years that builds a hard, tacky layer that a kitchen wipe just polishes. The grout underneath absorbs whatever soaks through.
The amount of grout is what makes a backsplash slow. A mosaic or subway backsplash is made of many small tiles, which packs a lot of grout line into a small area. Every line is porous cement in the greasiest spot in the house, and every line is worked by hand.
Materials are the other issue. Backsplashes mix things: glass mosaic, ceramic, metal accent strips and natural stone inserts, sometimes in the same sheet. Acidic cleaners etch stone and can dull metal trim. So we identify every material present and work to the most delicate one.
A backsplash sits at eye level right where people stand, so it is often the most noticeable change in a kitchen. Backsplashes are priced after we know the size and the materials. Call (731) 437-0006 or request an estimate.

Our Process
Identify Every Material
Glass, ceramic, porcelain, metal trim and stone inserts often share one backsplash. We work to the most delicate one, and we check the grout for failing spots and old repairs.
Test a Hidden Spot
We test a small area behind an appliance or at the end of a run before anything goes on the part you see.
Protect Countertops and Cabinets
Counters, cabinet faces, outlets and the range surface are covered.
Apply Cleaner and Let It Work
Cleaner goes on in sections and gets time to break down baked-on grease.
Work It With Hand Tools
Tile faces and the mosaic grout lines are worked by hand. On a backsplash this is most of the job.
Rinse and Dry
Each section is rinsed and dried by hand. Glass and metal get extra care so nothing dries to a haze.
Look It Over Together
You look at it with us in the light you cook by, and we tell you what we think about sealing the grout.

Realistic Results, Honestly
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- Mixed materials set the pace. Where glass, metal trim and natural stone share a run, we work to the most delicate material. That means gentler products and a slower job than a plain ceramic backsplash.
- Grease baked on right behind a range for years can leave a lasting tint in light grout. The section nearest the burners may stay a little darker than the ends of the run. Color sealing is the fix if that bothers you.
- We clean what we can reach. Sliding a range out or taking down a hood is appliance work, so the strip right behind a range is cleaned as far as it can be safely reached.
- Glass mosaic shows every streak and water spot, so we dry it by hand. Even so, it will show marks again quickly in normal kitchen use.
Safe for Your Family and Pets
We use family safe, pet safe products, which matters because a backsplash sits right above where food is prepared. We protect countertops while we work and rinse everything well. We keep the kitchen ventilated.

Backsplash Cleaning Questions
Why is my backsplash sticky even after I wipe it?
Cooking grease bakes on. Heat from the range hardens the oil on the tile, so a damp cloth polishes the layer instead of lifting it. It needs a cleaner with enough time to break the layer down first.
Can you clean the backsplash behind my stove?
Yes, as far as it can be safely reached with the range in place. That strip takes the most heat and grease, so it gets more time. We do not slide ranges out or take down hoods.
Can you clean a glass mosaic backsplash?
Yes. Glass shows haze, streaks and water spots more than any other surface, so each section is rinsed and dried by hand. The grout lines between the pieces are the slow part.
What if my backsplash has natural stone in it?
Then the whole backsplash gets stone-safe treatment. Acidic cleaners etch marble, travertine and limestone for good, so we identify every material first and work to the most delicate one.
Should backsplash grout be sealed?
Above a range, it is worth it. Backsplash grout is usually left unsealed when it is installed, and it sits in the greasiest spot in the house. Sealing it after cleaning keeps the grease from going straight back in.
