Upholstery Stain Removal in Jackson, TN
4.9 (278 reviews)2 min read
Upholstery stain removal in Jackson means treating each spot with a product chosen for the stain and the fabric under it. Upholstery is less forgiving than carpet, because there is no pad to take up extra moisture. We apply treatment sparingly and blend it outward. We do not always know what will come out.
Stain work on upholstery is harder than the same work on carpet. Carpet has a backing and a pad underneath that take up some excess. Upholstery is fabric stretched over foam, so anything we put on either stays in the fabric or soaks into the cushion. Too much liquid in one spot leaves a ring that shows more than the stain did.
The kind of stain decides the product. Coffee, tea and wine are tannins. Blood, milk and food protein are a different problem, and heat sets them. Lipstick, food grease and body oil are oils. Some drink mixes and food dyes bond to the fiber the same way the factory dye did. The wrong product on any of these can set the stain.
The fabric decides how much we can use. A W-coded polyester will take a good flush. Cotton, linen and viscose can brown and need less moisture. So we identify the fiber, test in a hidden area and tell you, spot by spot, what we think. We do not always know what will come out until we try. Call (731) 437-0006 or request an estimate.

Benefits of Upholstery Stain Removal
- Product matched to both the stain and the fiber
- Hidden-spot test before anything touches a visible spot

- Mildest treatment first, stronger only where needed
- Our opinion on each spot before we start
Who This Is For

- Anyone whose store-bought spot remover made it worse
- Owners of light colored or delicate upholstery
- Anyone with a spot that keeps coming back after they clean it
Our Process
Identify the Fiber
The cleaning code and fiber type set how much moisture and how strong a product that spot can take.
Identify Each Stain
We sort each stain as tannin, protein, oil, dye or unknown. The type decides the product.
Test a Hidden Area
The product goes on a hidden spot first, and we blot it with a white towel. Any dye on the towel means we change the approach.
Talk Through Each Spot
We tell you which spots we think will respond and which we have doubts about, before anything goes on.
Treat, Mildest First
We step up only as needed, work from the outside of the spot inward and blend into the fabric around it so it does not dry as a ring.
Rinse and Air-Dry
The treated area is rinsed to neutral or slightly acidic and left to air-dry. A spill that soaked into the foam can wick back as it dries, so we tell you what to watch for.
What's Included
- Fiber and cleaning code check on the affected area
- Identification of each stain type
- A hidden-spot test with a white towel
- Our opinion on each spot before treatment
- Mildest product first, stronger only where needed
- Sparing application blended outward
- A rinse to neutral or slightly acidic
- A look at the result with you before we leave
Realistic Results, Honestly
We would rather set an honest expectation than make a promise we cannot keep.
- We do not always know what will come out. That is how stain work goes, and we will not promise otherwise.
- Some substances dye upholstery fiber for good. Certain drink mixes, some medications, wood stain and a number of food dyes bond to the fabric. Once that happens, the stain is the color of the fabric in that spot.
- Old and previously treated stains are the hardest. A spot scrubbed with a household product is often set or ringed with residue we have to get out first. If you have already tried something, tell us what it was.
- Stains can wick back. If a spill soaked into the cushion foam, it can travel back to the surface as the piece dries. If that happens, call us. David comes back, looks at it, and re-cleans if needed.
- Bleach marks, sun bleaching and household chemical spots have removed color. No cleaning puts color back. That is a re-dyeing or reupholstery question.
Safe for Your Family and Pets
We test before anything goes on a visible spot, and we start with the mildest option to protect the dye and the fiber. Our products are family safe and pet safe, and the treated area is rinsed afterward.

“The men from Hydroclean were awesome. I had a soiled chair from cat urine and they worked very hard to get the odor out! I also had a carpet which had stubborn stains on it, they were able to get it clean. Couldn't be more pleased!”

Upholstery Stain Removal Questions
Can you remove any stain from upholstery?
No. Fresh spills usually respond, and many stains improve. Some substances dye the fiber for good, and bleach marks have removed color. We look at each spot and tell you what we think, but we do not always know what will come out.
How do I get a stain out of a couch?
Blot with white towels from the outside of the spill inward, and do not rub. Check the cleaning code tag before you use anything wet, and skip store-bought spot removers, which often set the stain. If the mark stays, call us at (731) 437-0006.
Why did my spot come back after it dried?
Wicking. The spill soaked into the cushion foam and traveled back to the surface as the piece dried. It means the spot needs more treatment. It can often be improved.
Why is there a ring around where I cleaned a spot?
Too much liquid in one place. The moisture carried soil to the edge of the wet area and left it there as it dried. Blending the treatment outward helps prevent it.
Can you treat a stain on a fabric coded S or X?
An X-coded fabric cannot take any liquid, so no. Wetting it would leave a permanent water mark. An S-coded fabric cannot take water-based products. Tell us the code when you call and we will tell you what we can do.
Wondering about cost? We do not post prices, but you can see what affects the price of upholstery cleaning.
