Pet Stain and Odor Results and What to Expect

Pet damage is where a before and after photo proves the least. A treated urine spot can look perfect in a picture and still smell on a humid West Tennessee afternoon, because the urine soaked past the fiber into the backing and the pad.

So this page leads with the explanation. We add matched before and after comparisons as we take them. Pet jobs fill in slowly, and if a customer asks for no photos, we always honor that.

It can show how we leave finished carpet, which is what our job photos are for. It cannot show odor, and odor is what nearly every pet owner is worried about.

A visible stain is not reliable evidence either. A yellow mark can lift while urine stays in the pad. The urine can come out while a dye change stays behind. That is why we inspect first with a UV light and a moisture meter.

The UV light shows where urine dried on the carpet. The moisture meter tells us whether it reached the pad. Where pad damage is isolated, we can flush it with subsurface extraction, which pushes solution down into the pad and pulls it back out.

Most stains come out, and the odor is removed or greatly reduced. We cannot promise complete odor removal every time. We tell you what we expect before we begin.

When too much of the room is affected. If contamination covers more than roughly 30 to 40 percent of a room, replacing the carpet and pad is usually the better advice. We will tell you that before you spend money on cleaning.

Dye loss is the other limit. Urine left long enough can strip or shift carpet color, leaving a yellow or orange mark after the contamination is gone. Cleaning removes the source, not the color change. One more caution: over-the-counter carpet shampoo machines can spread urine contamination across a room instead of removing it.
